Sharod is a team player.  He’s dedicated to the JGC team (across departments) and he puts his teammates before his paycheck.  He pulls a number of extra duties for the dealership and wears a number of different hats with ease.  His product knowledge is exceptional, and when it comes to helping a customer or another teammate understand the ins and outs of Chevrolet – he’s a go to, approachable team player.

He is kind to the people around him.  He is well liked and well respected by his teammates and customers.  He excels at Chevy product knowledge, and is willing to help anyone with anything at any time.  He’s fun to be around and brings levity and friendship to the workplace. The key is that Sharod exemplifies the core value of Teamwork through Trust and Respect. He believes that we all achieve more when we work together.  He leads others around him to think like this as well.  People are better when they are around him.  That’s what makes him deserving of this award.

Linda is part of the backbone of Jeff Gordon Chevrolet.   Every single day she comes to work with the heart of a champion and a friend.  You can count on her for anything from help with the trickiest work issue to a pat on the back and a good laugh.  She’s an expert at her job.  With 26 years of experience she knows exactly what to do to solve an issue.  She also never stops until the job is done right.  Aside from that, she’s kind to people.  She cares about the well-being of the staff here.  She works hard to stay positive and upbeat and to help others find the good in each day.

Linda has an incredible work ethic.  She is here day in and day out making sure everything in the office runs smoothly for our service and detail departments.  She’s like the wizard behind the curtain.  Her job is complex and she is often pulled in different directions, but she handles it all and never complains.  She is a wonderful friend in the workplace to so many people.  She brings  humor and laughter to the workplace and it doesn’t go unnoticed.  One the rough days, Linda is the person who so many people want to go to.  Linda is committed to bringing her best self into the workplace every single day.  We can all learn so much from her about what it means to be loyal, hardworking, and positive.

Chevrolet Offers Worried Parents Free OnStar Family Link

Over 360,000 teens in the US will be turning the sweet age of sixteen this August and as a gift to the parents of new drivers, Chevy is offering 3 months of OnStar Family Link for free! Learn more below.

DETROIT — With nearly 362,000 kids in the U.S. turning 16 in August — more than in any other month this year — Chevrolet knows parents with driving-age children need a little added peace of mind. Throughout August, Chevrolet is offering customers three months of free OnStar Family Link.

OnStar Family Link allows parents to stay connected to their teens no matter where their young drivers roam by providing access to teens’ vehicle locations. Parents can also set up email or text alerts to know when a vehicle has arrived and departed a destination or traveled outside a specific area.

“The day your children start driving is a dream come true for them, but it can be a nightmare for a concerned parent,” said Luciana Chamberlain, Family Link product marketing manager for Chevrolet. “OnStar Family Link can help minimize a parent’s anxiety by letting them know when their child has arrived at school, left a friend’s house or traveled outside of their comfort zone.”

Any Chevrolet owner in the U.S. with a 2012 model year or newer vehicle and an active OnStar subscription[1] can sign up for three months of free OnStar Family Link by visiting OnStar.com. After the three-month trial is over, parents will have the option to keep OnStar Family Link for $3.99 a month plus tax.

Chevrolet’s Peace of Mind Services

OnStar Family Link is one of several Chevrolet technologies that reduce the concerns moms and dads have when their children get behind the wheel. While OnStar Family Link helps monitor teens’ locations, Chevrolet’s Teen Driver and OnStar Smart Driver services can also help parents manage and mentor driving behaviors.

“Driving on their own was big event in my children’s lives, but that also meant I spent more time thinking about where they were and how they were doing,” said Steve Majoros, director, Chevrolet Marketing. “Chevrolet wants to put parents at ease by offering in-vehicle technology that shares real-time info on where their kids are and how they’re driving, so moms and dads can give feedback that helps their teens become better drivers.”

Teen Driver

Available on 10 model-year 2017 Chevrolet vehicles, Teen Driver allows parents to set radio volume limits and speed warnings and limit top speed to 85 mph. It also mutes the radio when the front-seat occupants are not wearing safety belts and automatically enables many available active safety features and prevents anyone from manually turning them off.

In addition, parents can use the Teen Driver in-vehicle report card to know about the distance driven, maximum speed reached, overspeed warnings issued, stability control events, antilock braking events, traction control activations, wide-open throttle events and, if equipped and supported, Forward Collision Alerts, Forward Collision Avoidance Braking events and Tailgating Alerts.

OnStar Smart Driver

When it comes to helping teens develop better driving skills, parents also can give feedback and spark discussion with OnStar Smart Driver. It provides monthly and trip-by-trip scores based on driving behaviors such as hard braking, speeds over 80 mph and rapid acceleration. The monthly reports also rank where a driver stands compared with others in the state or with individuals who drive the same Chevrolet vehicle.

And after 90 days, parents can choose to share their OnStar Smart Driver driving report with participating insurance companies to potentially qualify for savings[2].

OnStar Smart Driver is available on most 2015 and newer Chevrolet vehicles.

The Pink Ribbon Project Hosts 2nd Annual Tickled Pink Bachelor Auction

Jeff Gordon Chevrolet was honored to once again provide the step & repeat and photography for the 2nd Annual Tickled Pink Bachelor Auction this past weekend, July 22nd, 2017! The community fundraising event was hosted for the second time at IronClad Brewery in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Auction
20248180_1360541427400855_4702058695175056775_oTwelve fantastic bachelors consisting of law enforcement officers, artists, business professionals, and more worked the runway asking for bids from the ladies in attendance. Each bachelor was accompanied with a pre-planned date set in the weeks following the event which was awarded to their highest bidders. Proceeds from the 2nd Annual Tickled Pink Bachelor Auction benefited NHRMC Foundation’s The Pink Ribbon Project to help provide uninsured women of southeastern North Carolina access to mammography screenings, comfort to those undergoing cancer treatment and community awareness of cancer and the benefits of early diagnosis.

iOS 11 Introduces ‘Do Not Disturb While Driving Feature’

Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference revealed 6 major updates to the newest iOS, including one that will work to prevent you from texting or getting distracted by any notifications from your phone when you are on the road.

How it works:

If the iPhone is connected to your vehicle via a USB charging cable or Bluetooth, or the car is moving, the phone will withhold any text or app notifications when you opt to have the feature turned on. If you do happen to get a text while you’re driving, your phone will send an automatic text in response letting the person know that you’re driving right now and are unable to respond. Additionally, the iPhone screen will lock to prevent the use of any apps while the vehicle is in motion. You can also tell the app that you are the passenger to disable those notification-blocks.

So this is a great idea on Apple’s part to help prevent distracted driving, which is a major issue. But it makes us wonder: How would it work if your vehicle is a Chevy equipped with Apple CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free texting?  We’ll have to wait and see.

In addition, the new operating system will have Siri translations, live photo enhancements, floorplan update for Maps, a way to easily transfer payments between individuals with ApplePay, and a more customizable, one page iOS control center. Like most new iOS releases, 11 will probably be made available upon release of the iPhone 8.

Chevrolet owners with an in-vehicle OnStar® 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot* will now be able to stream more videos, send more emails, and play more online games (when they’re not driving, of course) thanks to a new $20/month** unlimited prepaid data plan. This is the first such plan from a mass-market automaker and will be welcome news for Chevy owners, who used almost 200% more OnStar® 4G LTE data last year than they did in 2015.

It will be available starting March 3, and Chevrolet will offer this groundbreaking plan enabled by AT&T across its entire retail lineup.

Chevrolet data usage has increased exponentially as owners have come to appreciate the ability to stream video on a tablet, send email on a laptop or play online using a gaming console in their vehicles[3], and now customers can utilize the full potential of their OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot without worrying about running out of data.
